You
CAN make powerful, positive changes in your life.
Hypnosis
and its uses in the practice of hypnotherapy is rapidly emerging
as a highly effective science in solving the problems of people. Even
though the use of hypnotherapy was approved by the AMA in 1958, there
are many misconceptions surrounding hypnosis.
There is no surrender of mind control. A person who does not want
to be hypnotized cannot be hypnotized or forced to do or say anything
which they are uncomfortable with. Hypnosis is not unconsciousness or
sleep. In most cases the subject is fully aware of communication and
able to respond either verbally or by signal.
The best way to describe hypnosis is an altered state of
consciousness. We all know the feeling of waking up in the morning,
when you are not yet fully awake, but no longer sleeping. You haven't
moved yet, and you have no desire to move. You are perfectly content
to float along in this "space". That is exactly what it feels like to
be hypnotized.
Hypnosis works with our subconscious mind, which is
90% of our mind. The subconscious controls things like our
breathing, walking and blinking. It also receives and retains
all of the messages we receive from our backgrounds (genetic, social,
religious) and the conflicts that enter our daily lives.
Hypnosis is a means of communicating with our subconscious mind.
Many problems, habits, stresses, anxieties and attitudes can be traced
to the subconscious mind.
